Scripture: Psalm 139

Message Series: Search Me ‘O God

Message: Contemplate

Text: Psalm 139:17-24

One of the best ways to keep walking in
holiness and purity is to be regularly introspective. This involves being sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s conviction, being humble in reading the Word, and praying proactively for God to reveal character flaws that need to be rectified and sanctified. But more than this, sometimes, we simply need to pause and contemplate our relationship with God by considering His awesome character. May God give us courage to pray as David did that God would search us, know us, sanctify, and changed us!

1) God’s knowledge is inexhaustible.
He CREATED us, and KNOWS us.

2) God’s love is incomprehensible.

He KNOWS us, and STILL LOVES us.

3) God’s presence is inescapable.
Because He LOVES us, He WATCHES OVER us.

The impulse to flee from God’s presence is as old as the fall. ~ Derek Kidner

4) God’s participation is personal.

He PROTECTS us, because He DELIGHTS IN us.

5) God’s children should be pliable.

He SANCTIFIES us, and continues SHAPING us.

God loves you just the way you are...but He loves you too much to leave you that way! ~ Lucado
