PEACE... Advent Devotional Series

Everywhere I look people are longing for peace! Chaos, strive, busy-ness, and division seem to be the norm. This Christmas, we will look together to the Prince of Peace to discover peace for our every day lives!

Are you plagued by uncertainty & doubt?
Is your perpective clouded by darkness?
Have failures left you feeling hopeless?

Join us in December for Biblical answers to these dilemmas!

Micah prophesies a ruler will come from Bethlehem, one who will shepherd his people and provide peace even under enemy attack. Jesus was the one born in Bethlehem, offering peace in the midst of turmoil. Christ brings confidence in the midst of crippling stress, hope in hard times, and light in the darkness.

Christmas is a celebration of God’s promise, but our celebration is often shadowed by the rush of the season, the stress of getting our list checked off, and the worry we can’t afford things we want to give. We sing songs about peace, but often live lives devoid of it.

Enjoying God’s peace at Christmas comes down to two things: gratitude and focus

Thank God for what you’ve been blessed with. Focusing on His goodness, instead of on our problems or busyness, gives our hearts and minds rest.

We too can enjoy the peace Jesus offers regardless of our level of stress or busyness.

Philippians 4:6-7 reminds us, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Jesus is our source of peace. So spend time on things that bring Jesus to the forefront of your celebrations. Talk to Jesus and read His Word. Keep Isaiah 26:3 in mind: “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.”

The prophecy in Micah is a promise to us. We, too, can enjoy the peace Jesus offers regardless of our level of stress or busyness. He offers us peace in any season of our lives.

Reflect on these questions:

  • In this season when we often feel like we don’t have enough resources or time, thankfulness reminds us how much we already have. What are some things you can thank Jesus for right now?

  • Is this season of celebration stressing you out? If so, what is one way you could refocus on Jesus?

  • How can you encourage someone else to live in the peace God offers?
