Love found its ultimate expression in Jesus Christ, who sacrificed everything for our sake. He traded his perfect heavenly home for the fragile human form. He endured shame, ridicule, torture, and death in our place. This is the central idea of Christian love. It doesn’t lead to easier or more glamorous lives…it leads to sacrifice. Today we will examine four facets of the uncomfortable, countercultural, self-giving love that Christ perfectly embodied and that his followers should strive after.
